How to Name Your Files
A simple naming pattern that helps us find, match and file your documents without asking you.
A good file name tells us what a document is before we open it. Use this pattern for everything you upload:
Year-Month - Type - Who - Amount
Examples
- 2027-03 - Receipt - Office Depot - 48.20.jpg
- 2027-03 - Statement - Chase Checking.pdf
- 2027-03 - Invoice - Acme Corp - 1,250.00.pdf
Don't worry if you forget now and then. We rename anything that does not follow the pattern, but it saves us time and keeps your bill lower.
